Brannock Device Printable - Has the device changed over the years? I just replaced a batch of shoes and noticed that my proper brannock size seems wildly different from the actual shoe size that best fits. I don't live anywhere near an alden retail store, so trying them on is next to impossible and i'd prefer not to have to spend the extra cost of shipping. Most salesmen tell you to stand on it with your feet as far back into the cups as possible. I just bought an old brannock device on ebay. It says that it is made for men.

Do you need to borrow a pen and paper to write it down so you stop forgetting? At the same time, many people on forums seem to have better luck with the brannock as a size gauge. I haven't actually tried on a 13 in wolverines, but i think i'm going to stick with 14. When i measured my foot it clearly showed that i am a a size 11.5. A compensation factor if you will.

For loafers and oxfords, i'd always prefer a 9d and an 8.5d in makers that are known to run large (cole haan). Comparison of 8.5d indy boots all in all they fit pretty well, with only slight heel slip, but will be fine with thicker socks or a insole. On a brannock device my left foot measures 13.5c, right foot 13c.
